Brandy

The Brandy is named for its resemblance to a brandy snifter. Its bowl is broad and rounded through the lower half before tapering inward toward the rim, creating a substantial yet elegant profile.

This pronounced taper distinguishes the Brandy from the cylindrical Billiard and the more evenly rounded Egg. Brandy tobacco pipes may be straight, gently bent, deeply bent, paneled, or designed as sitters. Danish and Italian interpretations often feature sweeping transitions and exaggerated proportions, while traditional versions tend to be more compact and restrained.

The shape also provides an excellent canvas for briar grain. Smooth examples may display birdseye across the broad heel with flame or straight grain rising toward the rim, while sandblasted and rusticated finishes emphasize the bowl’s curves.
