Papa Bear’s Pipes are made by North American artisan Tim Beaumont. Beaumont has been making pipes since 2018, cultivating a unique style that isn’t afraid to mix and match design elements and to create something completely out of the ordinary.
Like so many contemporary artisans, Tim Beaumont is strongly inspired by the Danish masters of artisan pipe making. But, as with any good artisan, the ways he interprets that inspiration are far from derivative. This brandy rendition, for example, takes on the hallmark plumpness of post-war Scandinavian approaches, but pairs it with an unusually long shank extension cut from animal horn. His use of color is highly idiosyncratic too; one might call it a “sextuple” contrast” design, juxtaposing as it does a sandblast finish, shank extension, and mouthpiece each distinguished by their own, two-tone palettes.
