Peterson

Peterson of Dublin is one of the oldest continuously operating pipe makers in the world, and the best-known name in Irish tobacco pipes. Founded in 1865, the company built its reputation on sturdy briar, practical engineering, and a house style that pipe smokers recognize at a glance.

Charles Peterson’s patented System pipe, introduced in 1890, added a moisture reservoir in the shank to keep the smoke dry and cool. He followed it in the 1890s with the P-Lip mouthpiece, which directs the smoke up toward the roof of the mouth. Those designs, together with Peterson’s full bowls, bold bends, and silver and nickel mounts, still define the brand today. Popular lines include the System, Sherlock Holmes, Donegal Rocky, Irish Harp, and Army, along with annual St. Patrick’s Day, Christmas, and Pipe of the Year releases.

MBSD’s selection of Peterson pipes includes new, unsmoked estate, and estate pipes from many shapes, series, and production periods. Each listing includes detailed photographs, dimensions, materials, condition, and available dating information. New listings are released nightly at 9 p.m. Eastern.
