Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson came to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a Dublin workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. He rose to head craftsman, bought into the business, and Kapp & Peterson was born. Along the way he patented several pipe designs, including the famous Peterson System, whose reservoir, graduated bore and P-Lip button have been part of Peterson pipes for well over a century.

Peterson still makes its pipes in Dublin, and its catalog runs from the nickel-mounted Army and the rusticated Donegal Rocky to the Sherlock Holmes series, made since 1987. Limited editions mark the calendar, with an annual Pipe of the Year, St. Patrick’s Day pipes since 1998, Christmas pipes, and newer lines like the Cobble.

Peterson releases an annual Pipe of the Year, St. Patrick's Day pipes (every year since 1998), Christmas pipes, and Halloween pipes. For its 160th Anniversary, Peterson revived two shapes from its 1906 catalog, the "Pat B" bent billiard and the "Pat OB" straight billiard, with only 2400 pipes made in total.
