Peterson (2025) Terracotta Spigot 05 Smooth Calabash with Silver (Estate)

Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.

As with many a famous 19th and early 20th century make, Peterson has a long and rich history with silver-mounted pipes, and is one of the few companies to still employ master silversmiths to turn and mount such precious metal adornments entirely in-house at its Dublin premises. Sterling silver spigots have been part of Peterson’s catalog since the early 1900s and remain at the high-end of the company’s output. This particular pipe is one of Peterson’s Terracotta Spigot pipes, sitting at the higher-end of even the spigot series, wearing a light reddish finish that accentuates a wealth of bird’s-eye patterning.

The condition is very good. Minor rim darkening and some slight handling marks. This pipe comes with its original sleeve.
