Peterson 2025 St. Patrick’s Day 411 Smooth Rhodesian with Silver (Unsmoked Estate)

Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.

It is only natural that a great Irish pipe company should honor Ireland’s patron saint, which Peterson has done each year since 1998. As with Peterson’s Pipe of the Year and Christmas Pipe series, St. Patrick’s Day pipes have always been limited edition, one-time offers, and tend to be a little more special than the average Pete. As has become tradition, the 2025 St Patrick’s release featured a range of Peterson’s timeless shapes in a range of their equally timeless house finishes. Unlike preceding years, however, the 2025 release saw pipes fitted with engraved silver collars (rather than nickel ones) and vulcanite stems.

As is something of a tradition within the St Patrick’s Day series, the 2025 release included a few of Peterson’s non-standard and/or less frequently seen shapes in addition to the classics also on offer. One such shape in 2025’s lineup was the “411” a princely Rhodesian rendition in the early 1900s style. First appearing in Peterson catalogs during the 1920s and 1930s, where it was known as the “Ringed Bullcap,” the shape had been out of production for most of the 20th century and all of the 21st. In 2024, the shape was brought back to life once more, just in time to feature in the subsequent year’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating.
