Vauen

VAUEN traces its history to 1848, when Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener established a pipe factory in Nuremberg. Following a later merger, the business became the Vereinigte Pfeifenfabriken Nürnberg. In 1909, the name VAUEN was created from the initial sounds of “V” for Vereinigte Pfeifenfabriken and “N” for Nürnberg.

The German manufacturer is especially important to the development of filtered tobacco pipes. VAUEN registered the Dr. Perl name in 1921 and introduced the Dr. Perl junior 9mm activated-charcoal filter in 1934. Today, VAUEN remains one of the best sources for purpose-built 9mm tobacco pipes, with a broad selection of traditional and contemporary designs.

VAUEN produces billiards, bent pipes, Churchwardens, and modern shapes in numerous finishes and series. MBSD’s changing selection may include new, estate, and unsmoked estate VAUEN pipes from different production periods. Filter size and construction can vary, so the specifications provided with each pipe should be consulted before purchasing replacement filters or adapters.
