Vauen Smooth Poker Estate Briar Pipe, German Estates, 9mm

Description
Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand—a title that it continues to hold to this day.
Vauen has come to be known for its distinctively modern and oftentimes downright futuristic pipe designs, so a poker might seem an odd choice of shape for the company to pursue. A closer inspection of this one reveals that it too possesses the company’s hallmark German ingenuity and efficiency. Though I don’t think it can be disassembled, the bowl was built from two parts, rather than one, allowing the draft hole to be drilled dead-center at the bottom of the chamber, like a traditional calabash. I imagine this will go a long way to reducing any pesky gurgling while it’s in action.
The condition is good. Some slight scratches and wear to the finish. Being a Vauen, the pipe is chambered to accommodate 9mm filters if desired.
