Comoy’s Tiger Eye 185 Smooth Billiard (Unsmoked Estate)

Comoy’s is a historic brand in pipe making, and possibly the most historic brand in the making of briar pipes. Though originally founded in 1825 by a French family from Saint Claude, France, production of Comoy’s pipes was soon moved to London, England, where it established itself as one of the quintessential English pipe companies.

There is something quite unusual about this Comoy’s. It’s a beautiful pipe, taking the form of a superbly grained, classic, large billiard, but that’s less surprising from Comoy’s. What is a surprise is that it was made in Italy, rather than England or France. I imagine the pipe will have been made after the early 1980s, following the Cadogan Investments merger, through which the production of Comoy’s pipes (along with a host of other established Anglo-French makes) was consolidated and moved around a little. Lucky for us, the Italians know a thing or two about pipe making.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating.
