It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for over 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Savinelli’s Sherwood Rock Briar is a fairly old, discontinued line from the Italian make, and one of the very few Savinelli lines to have ever worn a spot-carved finish. It’s a quaint little pipe (excuse the pun, Barling fans), with a finish that somewhat evocative of an old, leather-wrapped pipe. In this instance, however, the Sherwood finish has been applied to an otherwise superbly straight grained bowl, and to a very interesting effect.

The condition is good. Some darkening and scratches on the rim.
