It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Taking its name from the Italian for “First Smoke,” Savinelli’s Primo Fumo is intended to be a “starter” pipe of sorts, i.e. a modest, affordable pipe for those wishing to dip their toes into the water without spending hundreds of dollars to do so. On the other hand, they’re also simply great workhorses, and being a Savinelli, the Primo Fumo is not only well made, but also looks pretty good, too. This one is a classic, lightweight Lovat, one that can be easily clenched while engaged in manual activities, or just puffing on the go.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. Some minor, cosmetic imperfections around the bowl, though nothing major. The pipe is chambered to allow for the use of 6mm filters if desired, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, but will perform perfectly well without one as well.
