Peterson Irish Harp 05 Sandblasted Calabash w/ Silver Estate Briar Pipe, Irish Estates

Out of stock

Description

Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.

Taking its name from the ancient Celtic cláirseach, an instrument and symbol deeply intertwined with Irish culture, Peterson’s Irish Harp is one of the company’s more recent additions to its catalog, though you wouldn’t know this from simply looking at it. After all, the Irish Harp, despite being around two decades old, is very classical in design, combining Peterson’s house shapes with a reddish finish, a sterling silver collar, and an acrylic stem swirling with tones evocative of cumberland. This one is very traditional indeed, taking the form of Peterson’s signature “05” calabash.

The condition is good. Some rim darkening and slight handling marks.
