Description
Papa Bear’s Pipes are made by North American artisan Tim Beaumont. Beaumont has been making pipes since 2018, cultivating a unique style that isn’t afraid to mix and match design elements and to create something completely out of the ordinary.
Though this latest batch of pipes from Tim Beaumont has included a fair few renditions of modern Danish shapes, this particular pipe may well be the most unusual he’s sent in a while. Instead of the Danes, this straight grain, paneled and faceted, long shank volcano sitter embodies an aesthetic closer to the great German and Austrian artisans of the 20th and 21st centuries, with notable affinities with the works of, for example, Karlheinz Joura, or Peter Matzhold. Beaumont’s pipe is a little less conservative than those of his European counterparts, however, especially in its use of color, pairing the bowl’s light, natural smooth finish with a mouthpiece cut from a swirling, black and tan ebonite.
