Savinelli Tortuga 626 Partially Rusticated Apple Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 6mm

Description

It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Savinelli’s Tortuga line is a relatively recent and rather curious addition to the make’s portfolio. In addition to being a very beautiful pipe, it comes with a little “cap,” with a variety of pipe-related uses. One can, for example, use it to keep a bowl ready to go in one’s pocket, so that one can light up when the moment presents itself. Alternatively, one can use it to stow a half-finished bowl for later. Or, one can simply use it to keep any stray carbon or dottle in the pipe from spilling into wherever it’s being stowed on the go. Both the cap and the pipe’s mouthpiece are cut from a very pleasant tortoiseshell acrylic, which are the pipe’s namesake, as tortuga is Spanish for “tortoise.”

This pipe is completely unsmoked. As with most contemporary Savinelli’s this one is chambered to allow for the use of 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, but will perform just as well without a one if preferred.
