It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
Since the earliest days of the briar pipe, specialty tobacconists have forged close relationships with pipe manufacturers that extend beyond simply selling their wares. Often, a pipe company will make specially branded pipes for shops, which serve as a “house brand” of sorts. Savinelli has partnered with many such shops over the decades, with one being Diebel’s, a historic establishment in Kansas City that has proudly served pipe smokers since the 1950s. This is one of Savinelli’s pipes for Diebels, following a design similar to the popular Tortuga, but with a little more of an understated charm.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. Some slight finish fading. The pipe is chambered to accommodate 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, if desired.
