It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
The Classica was a line of moderately priced Savinellis put out by the company several years back, each wearing a reserved, brick red Italian sandblast finish. Given that the Classica is an older (and now discontinued) line, it featured a few shapes that are all but absent in Savinelli’s contemporary production. The 915 KS oval shank Dublin, seen here, is one of them, and beyond the estates market, it’s only recently been available in Savinelli lines utilizing legacy stock bowls from their Milan warehouses.
The condition is good. Some inner rim darkening and slight tooth marks. I think the stem is a replacement (though if so, a professionally made one), as I remember the Classica having black vulcanite mouthpieces as standard. I’ve adjusted the price to reflect that.
