Rattray’s Old Gowrie 3 Sandblasted Apple (9mm) (Unsmoked Estate)

The House of Rattray was originally a tobacconist, opening in Perth, Scotland, in 1903, under the oversight of Charles Rattray. House of Rattray soon became a blending house (whose blends are still sold to this day under the Rattray’s name) and a purveyor of Rattray-brand pipes, made for the tobacconist by established English pipe makers. Over the years, the name changed hands, with contemporary Rattray’s pipes and tobaccos being produced under the umbrella of German’s Kopp company (formerly Kolhase & Kopp). Today, Rattray’s pipes are manufactured by various major European makers, such as Chacom and Butz-Choquin in France and Brebbia and L’anatra in Italy.

While I’m fairly certain it’s been discontinued now, Rattray’s Old Gowrie was a line of pipes made between the 2000s and 2010s, and was named after one of the make’s most popular (and, in my opinion, one of its best) blends. The design was quite simple; classic shapes, a reserved, near-black sandblast, and black acrylic mouthpieces. This one takes the form of a stout English apple, for example.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It comes with its original box. The pipe is chambered to accommodate 9mm filters if desired.
