Pipe Tristan Sandblasted “55” Pot (Unsmoked Estate)
$275.00

About this pipe:
I used to say that Pipe Tristan’s Tristan Lefebvre was part of a “new wave” of “up-and-coming” artisans from France, the very birthplace of the briar pipe. But that description doesn’t do him justice these days. Lefebvre isn’t so much a “part” of the latest generation of French artisans as the craftsman leading the charge; likewise, he is no longer “up-and-coming,” but has already secured himself a place alongside historic compatriots such as Alain Albuisson, Paul Lanier, and Pierre Morel Sr and Jr. In fact, in 2025, he was inducted into the Confrérie des Maîtres Pipiers de Saint-Claude, a prestigious French association of master pipe makers whose ranks have included Albuisson, Lanier, and Morel the younger.
One of Tristan Lefebvre’s most formative early influences was Italy’s Castello workshop. This has been expressed in Lefebvre’s development of his signature finishes, and it’s also been expressed in his approach to form, with a number of Castello’s house shapes being the subjects of studies in the Pipe Tristan Portfolio.
This particular pipe is one of Lefebre’s “55” pot renditions, which were a significant part of how he made such a name for himself. Overall, this one is a very faithful homage, keeping the shape’s iconic strong jaw and “lunging” posture, though unlike the originals, this one is fitted with a hand-cut black ebonite mouthpiece.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating, and comes with its original sleeve.
