Description

Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.

There is a great variety of Peterson pipes that include the make’s famous, patented System. Comprised of a moisture reservoir in the shank, a graduated bore, and a P-Lip mouthpiece, one finds the System in its most elementary form in the System Standard, for example, just as one does in the Premier System, with the latter having the added bonus of a sterling silver army mount. Going one step further up the ladder of System pipes, one finds the System Spigot. As suggested by the name, the System Spigot takes Peterson’s patented System and couples it with a sterling silver spigot mount, lending even more finery to one of pipe making’s most historic designs.
