Peterson Ragaire X220 Sandblasted Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked

Description
Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.
Taking its name from an Irish Gaelic term for “night wandering,” Peterson’s Ragaire line was a rather unusual one. Released in 2021, the Ragaire was a limited release, with just a few hundred made, the line featured a selection of Peterson’s classic, non-System shapes, though its unconventional design had a transformative effect on those shapes. Not unlike the old Dunmore line, the Ragaire was distinguished by the kind of push fitment most commonly associated with army mounts, but without the mount itself (something Sasieni had also previously explored during their family era, now that I think about it). In keeping with its somewhat gothic theme, the pipe was further dressed in a near-black sandblast finish and fitted with a cumberland-style, red and black brindled acrylic mouthpiece, as seen on this X220 rendition.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating.
