Peterson Killarney 150 Smooth Bulldog w/ Nickel Estate Briar Pipe, Irish Estates
Out of stock
Description
Named after a town in Southwest Ireland, Peterson’s Killarney series honors the cultural and natural history of Ireland. Each pipe in the Killarney series is fitted with dual nickel bands, presenting a distinguished look at an accessible price point. The Killarney series is offered in several finishes, and this 120 Dublin is dressed in Peterson’s Red smooth finish.
Peterson’s Killarney debuted in 1949 and, like quite a few Peterson lines, it has changed a few times over the years. It has always been part of Peterson’s Classic range, i.e., for standard shapes within Peterson’s catalog, but the finishes and accoutrements have been rather different depending on when any given Killarney was made. Early Killarneys, for example, were quite utilitarian, with a choice of a Natural or Plum finish and a vulcanite P-Lip stem. More contemporary iterations include the Killarney Red, featuring a smooth lacquered finish and two narrow silver accents. This Killarney, on the other hand, appears to be somewhere in between. The finish is a simple, light brown, the stem is a fishtail cut of vulcanite, and the shank is accented by a more prominent nickel collar, giving the pipe a little more of a shine than today’s version.
The condition is good. Slight inner rim charring, finish fading, and a couple of worn out fills.
