Oliver Brandt BA Smooth Long Shank Brandy Estate Briar Pipe

Oliver Brandt is a German artisan who came to prominence in the 1990s. Having developed an interest in woodworking and pipes at an early age thanks to his father, Oliver began making pipes part time around 1990 and, with a little help from fellow German artisan Julian Schafer, embarked on a full-time career in the industry a few years later. When Oliver’s son Max Brandt came of age, he too took up pipe making, and though they largely work independently, they share the same workshop in Oliver’s house.

This particular pipe is a good representative of Oliver’s style. Long in shank, plump in bowl, eminently organic, and with notable affinities with the pipes of another famous German artisan, Otto Pollner, who Oliver has cited as a major influence.

The condition is good. Some rim darkening, chamber slightly over-reamed, and some handling marks.
