Kaywoodie (English Production) Standard 93 B Smooth Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked

Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.

With that said, while Kaywoodie pipes are thoroughly American briars, not all Kaywoodie lines have, historically, been made in the US. In fact, for much of the 20th century, many were made across the Atlantic, over in England, of all places. The Standard was one such line, manufactured for Kaywoodie by Oppenheimer, which was itself a conglomerate that owned numerous pipe outfits, such as GBD and Comoy’s. In partnership with Kaywoodie, Oppenheimer enlisted the services of its English factories, resulting in pipes like this “93B” “Medium Billiard.” Interestingly, while many English-made Kaywoodies had push fitments, this one includes the make’s famous stinger and screw-in fitment.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. A couple of worn out fills and minor handling marks. It also comes with its original (slightly time-worn) box.
