While not a pipe manufacturer per se, John Aylesbury is a German pipe distributor that has, at various times, commissioned high-quality pipes to be sold under the John Aylesbury name. These have included Peterson, Brebbia, Bentley, and even Les Wood of Ferndown.
This one is a nice, slightly modern, oval-shank brandy rendition and, based on the nomenclature, it was made in France. As Butz-Choquin used to make pipes of the exact same shape with the exact same shape code, I’d wager that this one was made for John Aylesbury by that famed French make. That would also explain how nice of a pipe it is, both in form and grain.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It is chambered to accommodate 9mm filters if desired.
