Dunhill (2023) Ernest Shackleton Bruyere 4113 Smooth Bent Apple with Silver & Silver Tamper (Unsmoked Estate)

To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the “Rolls-Royce” of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.

Alfred Dunhill Ltd. is a company that is particularly proud of its British heritage, and one of the ways that the company expresses this pride is through limited edition pipes that commemorate Britain’s historic figures, events, and locales. Being Dunhill, of course, these pipes are not only the height of pipe luxury, but also exceptionally exclusive, with just a few pipes made for each edition.

2024 marked the 150th birthday of Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton, a British-Irish explorer notable for his leading role in expeditions to the Antarctic. To celebrate Shackleton’s life, Dunhill released a series of special, cased sets of pipes and sterling silver tampers, the latter being intricately carved in Shackleton’s likeness. Each pipe was a silver-mounted rendition of Dunhill’s classic “4113” bent apple, with a variety of finishes on offer. This one wears Dunhill’s Bruyere finish, for example, and is one of just thirty of its kind that were made.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It comes with its original presentation case, tamper, and certificate of authenticity.
