Description

To veteran pipe smokers, Dunhill needs no introduction. Beginning in 1907, Alfred Dunhill began selling Dunhill pipes at the tobacconist shop he owned on London’s Duke Street. Very quickly, these pipes gained the reputation of being the “Rolls-Royce” of pipes due to how expertly crafted they were. Today, Dunhill is likely Britain’s most famous pipe manufacturer, and continues to produce some of the most treasured pipes a smoker can buy.

The Root Briar was the third line of pipes introduced by Alfred Dunhill Ltd., debuting all the way back in 1931. In many ways, it defined what a high-grade pipe should be: free from flaws, beautifully grained, and draped in a very light, natural stain so that its superior briar would be on full display. This has remained much the case ever since, with the Root Briar continuing to serve as a model for pipe perfection. This Root Briar bent billiard comes from 1979, for example, and, true to its reputation, its bowl is absolutely alive with flame grain patterns, circling its eminently classical figure.

The condition is very good. Minor wear to the rim and some small scratches on the bowl.
