Description
Digby was a sub-brand made by GBD. GBD itself was founded in 1850 by the French trio Ganneval, Bondier & Donninger, before the brand was bought by English company Oppenheimer at the beginning of the 20th century. Retaining the name, Oppenheimer opened GBD factories in London and Paris to meet an increasing demand for the make’s high-quality and highly desirable pipes.
This particular Digby is a rather gnarly, sandblasted version of GBD’s distinctive panel-shank pot sitter shape, the “9488.” With a generously wide chamber, the pipe promises to be especially good for mixture cuts.
The condition is fair. Some rim charring and finish fading.
