Cesare Barontini Lucca A 01 Smooth Author Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm
Out of stock
Description
Barontini is one of the oldest companies in the pipe industry in Italy. Founded in 1890 in Tuscany by Turildo Barontini, the company initially only produced briar, but in 1925, Turildo’s son Bruno shifted the operation to making pipes from this briar. Later, the company was inherited by Cesare Barontini, whose name is most readily associated with Barontini pipe production. Barontini is still operated by Cesare and his wife today.
Cesare Barontini’s Lucca line has been out of production for some time now. The pipes were modest, well made Italian smokers, with a distinguishing feature on each being a colorful, matched mouthpiece and shank accent cut from various shades of Lucite. This one, for example, strikes as very traditional, taking the form of a compact author shape whose light brown finish is paired with the amber tones of its collar and stem.
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It is chambered to allow for the use of 9mm filters if desired.
