Cavicchi CCC Grade Smooth Horn Dublin Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
In 1974, after growing impatient waiting for a pipe he’d ordered, Claudio Cavicchi decided he would simply make his own pipe instead. The former farmer from Bologna, Italy, spent the next 15 years making pipes, until his work took off and received widespread acclaim. Cavicchi’s pipe-making exploits have only become more renowned in the decades since. Today, Cavicchi’s pipes hold a firm place at the top of an extraordinarily competitive Italian high-grades scene, being as carefully and meticulously crafted as they are beautiful. With this in mind, it should come as no surprise that Claudio himself is a world record holding slow smoking champion.
I have said it before many times, but it bears repeating: there is, seemingly, no shape or style of pipe that Claudio Cavicchi is not a master of. traditional, Danish, Italian neoclassical—he can do it all, and often better than a design’s own national representatives. In the case of this one, it’s a horn-Dublin hybrid in the vein of the great Danes, complete with the remarkable straight grain that one would expect from Scandinavia’s finest. There’s also a superb balance to its shaping. While it’s quite a large pipe, with a deep chamber, it’s neither practically unwieldy nor aesthetically uneven. In other words, it’s just right.
The condition is great. Minor rim darkening.
