Just like England and France, Italy is home to many pipe companies that have a vast historical lineage behind them, companies that are often managed by the same families that first founded them. Cassano pipes are made by one such company, Fabbrica Pipe di Carlo Ceresa & C., whose pipe making roots can be traced to the late 19th century. It was here that Gerolamo Ceresa began his career as a pipe maker working for Fabbrica di Pipe di Radica Rossi (the original manufacturers of Rossi pipes). In the early 20th century, Gerolamo built a factory in the town of Cassano, Italy, where he and his sons began making their own brand of pipe: Cassano.

The Cassano make has been passed down through the hands of the Ceresa family in the many decades that followed. I’m not sure if the company is still around, as recent information on Cassano pipes is difficult to find. I’d imagine this rather colorful Dublin rendition is fairly modern, based on the design, and it seems to be a good quality pipe, too.

The condition is very good. Very minor inner rim darkening and a couple of worn out fills.
