BBB Two Star 600 Smooth Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates

Description

‘BBB’ originally stood for “Blumfeld’s Best Briars,” so named after Louis Blumfeld after he took over the historic Adolph Frankenau company in 1856. Later, this evolved into “Best British Briar,” then, even later, “Britain’s Best Briars.” Like GBD, Dunhill, and Barling’s, the story of BBB pipes is long and decisive not only for British pipes, but for the Anglo-French tradition more generally. Further still, BBB has is a make that proudly holds the title of “the oldest trade mark in the [pipe] industry.”

The Two Star appears to have first emerged in the 1930s, establishing a firm position as a more affordable BBB that it held onto for many decades after. Classic without being pretentious, it was simply a well made smoking instrument, which helped make it one of BBB’s best-selling lines. This one is a very traditional billiard, with a shorter, featherweight stature that promises easy clenching for novices and veterans alike.

The condition is fair. Rim darkening and a couple of worn out fills.
