Barling 5107 TVF Smooth Army Mount Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates
Out of stock
Description
B. Barling and Sons was originally founded in 1812 by Benjamin Barling and began as a family business making silver-adorned meerschaum pipes. In the early 20th century, however, the Barling family began to produce what the brand is today most famous for—expertly made briar pipes.
This particular Barling comes from 1967 and thus the “post-transition” era, that being the period after the make was acquired by Imperial Tobacco and production was moved to one of the conglomerate’s London factories. Though the Barling family were long gone by this point, that hasn’t stopped it from being a pleasant, very classic, billiard rendition. Dressed in a claret red finish, it’s a good size, yet surprisingly lightweight, making for an easy clencher. The sterling silver is always a welcome touch, too, this time taking the form of an army mount, not unlike the Barlings themselves used to make.
The condition is great. Minor inner rim darkening.
