Caminetto

Founded around 1968 by former Castello craftsmen Giuseppe “Peppino” Ascorti and Luigi Radice, Caminetto became an influential name in Italian pipe making. Working from their workshop in Cucciago, Ascorti and Radice developed a muscular house style that combined traditional Anglo-French forms with the bold shaping and finishing that came to define modern Italian tobacco pipes.

Caminetto is especially recognized for its rugged Business rustication and distinctive New Dear wax-drip carving. Collectors also seek early “Ascorti–Radice era” pipes, recognizable through period nomenclature and stem logos, along with higher-grade Excellence, Excellence Extra, Moustache, and limited-production examples. Because the company has experienced several changes in ownership and production, markings and construction details can help determine when a pipe was made.
