Vauen 3314 Smooth Pot w/ Brass Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm
Out of stock
Description
Vauen stems from Germany’s oldest tobacco pipe manufacturing company, tracing its roots back to the founding partnership of Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener in Nuremberg, 1848. Out of the Ellenberger-Ziener partnership soon came the Vauen make itself, which grew to become Germany’s largest and most enduring pipe brand – a title that it continues to hold to this day.
While this Vauen is a pot shape, it is a distinctly German rendition of one, with a little Danish influence sprinkled in for good measure (Stanwell’s shape “11,” designed by Sixten Ivarsson, springs to mind). A decidedly broad and squat design, it has a very satisfying hand-feel, and handles mixture cuts and ribbons so well that it’s a worthy challenger to Savinelli’s 320 KS author. This last point I know from personal experience, as I happen to own a Vauen of exactly the same model as this one.
This Vauen is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. There’s a few worn out fills around the bowl, though nothing major. It is chambered to allow for the use of 9mm filters if desired.
