Stanwell Amber Light Smooth 15 Apple Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 9mm

Description
Stanwell is one of Denmark’s most celebrated and enduring pipe companies, having been founded by Poul Nielsen shortly after the second world war. Over the last six decades, Stanwell has established itself as both a leader in innovative Danish design and for producing well-priced pipes with precision construction and engineering. Many of its designs were created for the company by iconic pipe-makers in the Scandinavian scene, such as Sixten Ivarsson, Anne Julie, Jess Chonowitsch, and Tom Eltang.
One of my personal favorite Stanwell lines in recent years was the Amber. In a manner not entirely unlike the old, long-discontinued Golden Contrast, the Amber’s defining feature was its deep contrast, smooth polished finish, accented by a narrow silver accent at the shank end. Naturally, this finish did wonders for the briar patterns underneath, while lending the pipe a general sheen befitting its namesake. However, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a new Amber “in the wild,” so to speak, so it may well be discontinued. This one is rendered in one of Stanwell’s plump, Danish apple renditions, the “15.”
This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It is chambered to accommodate 9mm filters if desired.
