Savinelli Venezia 320 KS Smooth Author Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked, 6mm
Out of stock
Description
It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.
The “Venezia” has made several appearances in Savinelli’s catalog over the years. The most recent was a commemorative pipe, intended to mark 1600 years since the founding of the city of Venice. This is not that pipe, but rather an earlier line of the same name. In the case of this one, it looks to have been a modest, no-frills design, though one that, unlike the 2021 release, wore a smooth polished matte red finish, rather than being rusticated. This one is rendered in one of Savinelli’s most popular shapes, the iconic “320 KS” author. It’s thanks to shapes like this one that the author is all but synonymous with Italian pipes these days, not least because the 320 KS possesses a wonderfully plump, palm-filling figure, and a wide chamber that handles mixture cuts like a champ.
This pipe is completely unsmoked. It is chambered to accommodate 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, if desired, but will also perform perfectly well without one.
