Savinelli Sitting 677 KS Rusticated Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates, 6mm

It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for over 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Much like the “Standing” line, the idea behind Savinelli’s Sitting line was a simple one: to offer a series of pipes that were exclusively sitter designs, meaning each could be set down and would remain upright on its own accord when the situation demanded it. Some shapes from the Standing line were already sitter shapes from Savinelli’s catalog, whereas others were slightly modified catalog shapes, specifically regarding the base of the pipe. This one takes the form of a Savinelli’s plump bent billiard shape “677 KS,” with a flattened underside so that it sits comfortably when needed.

The condition is very good. Some inner rim darkening. As with most modern Savinelli pipes, this one is chambered to accommodate 6mm filters, such as Savinelli’s own balsa filters, if desired, but will also perform perfectly well without one.
