It is probably fair to say that Savinelli is Italy’s most famous pipe brand. Founded in Milan in 1876 by Achille Savinelli, the brand has continuously offered high quality pipes for nearly 150 years. Though various Savinelli lines have come and gone over the years, the brand has always been notable for putting out classically styled pipes with a distinctly Italian twist.

Like Peterson in Ireland and Dunhill in England, Savinelli is a company that is proud not only of its history as a pipe company, but of its nation’s history, especially its cultural achievements. As such, Savinelli releases limited edition pipes to mark major Italian cultural events, often in connection to the lives and works of prominent figures therein. In 2023, Savinelli put out a very small run of pipes commemorating the passing of Alessandro Manzoni, a key figure in 19th century Italian philosophy and literature. Taking the form of a very Italian rusticated Dublin, each featured a special, silver engraving of Manzoni’s likeness, as can be seen on this one. In total, just 150 Savinelli Manzoni pipes were made, with this being number 47.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. It comes with its original sleeve and presentation case.
