Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes—one near to its very beginnings. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since.

Sasieni always had particularly exacting standards for its pipes, even within the English pipe scene, so when a bowl was found to have even the tiniest, superficial imperfection, the bowl would be used for one of Sasieni’s many sub-brands. The Royal Stuart was, however, a rather exceptional sub-brand as far as those tend to go. Selected for for their excellent, fine grain patterns, the bowls that became Royal Stuarts were given a very light finish, comparable to the Four Dot Natural of the later family era.

The condition is good. Some wear to the rim and some slight, superficial scratches on the bowl.
