Regina Scarlatta is yet another example of a high-end artisan pipe venture to have emerged from Italy’s famous Pesaro region. Over the decades, Pesaro has been the home to Mastro de Paja, Il Ceppo, Ser Jacopo, Don Carlos, Le Nuvole, and many other tightly-connected era-defining makes, a network of association and prestige that Regina Scarlatta would also ultimately become part of. The pipes are crafted togerher by husband and wife duo Cristian and Cinzia Galeazzi; Cristian, a former apprentice to Il Ceppo’s Franco Rossi, is primarily responsible for drilling and shaping, after which Cinzia takes over, refining their pipes’s constitutive lines and details and applying their finishes.
Here we find Cristian and Cinzia’s take on the classic Italian hawkbill, giving the shape a slightly softer, more supple form, while retaining its signature C-curve figure. Smooth Regina Scarlatta pipes are graded up to 6 Crowns, with this one having attained a very respectable 4.
The condition is very good. Minor rim darkening and slight finish fading. This pipe comes with its original sleeve.
