Description
Peterson pipes generally need no introduction, but just in case you’re unfamiliar: in 1876, a Latvian named Charles Peterson immigrated to Ireland and was hired making pipes in a workshop owned by Frederick and George Kapp. After rising through the ranks to become head craftsman, Peterson bought into the Kapp’s business, which was renamed, Kapp & Peterson (K&P). During this time, Peterson himself applied for several patents for pipe designs, including the world-famous Peterson’s System. Since then, Peterson has become one of the most recognizable names in pipe smoking and continues to produce high quality pipes from their headquarters in Dublin.
The Dublin Filter is, as the name suggests, a line of pipes from Peterson that exclusively features designs with wide-bore tenons, intended to fit 9mm filters. These can be the standard activated charcoal capsules, meerschaum granulate versions, and even 9mm balsa filters, such as Savinelli offers. Given that filter-compatible pipes are relatively under-represented in Peterson’s catalog, the Dublin Filter is a great way for people who enjoy the quality and aesthetics of the great Irish make, but also prefer enjoying their favorite blend through a filter of some variety. This one is the tall, stout apple “XL02” shape, dressed in Peterson’s iconic house rustication.
