Description
PapaBearPipes are made by North American artisan Tim Beaumont. Beaumont has been making pipes since 2018, cultivating a unique style that isn’t afraid to mix and match design elements and to create something completely out of the ordinary.
While Tim Beaumont is known for his highly contemporary designs, he’s also someone that, like the proverbial shark, is always on the move, exploring new stylistic terrain at every opportunity. For a recent batch of pipes, Beaumont turned to a far older source of inspiration: the all-briar. In recent memory, all-briar pipes are typically associated with 20th century brands like Kaywoodie, with the name deriving from the fact that both the stem and the bowl of the pipe were made from briar. But the origins of this approach is far older with the earliest examples being single-piece briar pipes from the late-19th century, modeled after clay pipes from the time. This featherweight, sandblasted Dublin rendition remains most faithful to the latter, especially as it is all one piece, though it also adds a signature dash of the modern through a subtle acrylic inlay.
