Nording Partially Rusticated Large Bulldog (Unsmoked Estate)

Nørding was founded by Erik Nørding in the 1960s, and is one of the oldest remaining companies to come out of the Scandinavian pipe-making renaissance that began in the mid-20th century. Now in his 80s, Erik Nørding is one of the most experienced and skilled pipe-makers in the world, and over the decades he has also been a teacher of other Danish masters, such as Poul Ilsted, Svend Axel Celius, Jens Tao Nielsen, Peder Jeppesen, and Søren Erik Andersen.

Erik Nørding has had a long career in the pipe industry, and though he is purportedly all but retired now, the extent of his success as a pipe maker is hard to overstate. Many other Danish pipe makers, workshops, and companies have been founded since Erik first started out, but only a fraction would survive for as long as Nørding has. One of the reasons for this has been Erik’s cultivation of a distinctly Danish style, but another has been his ability to create and work with designs in all manner of forms, including traditional ones.

This pipe, for example, is Erik’s take on a large, squat, English bulldog, complete with a finely rusticated finish reminiscent of certain high-end pipes from England’s late 20th century workshop scene.

This pipe is completely unsmoked, with an original bowl coating. Some slight finish fading on the rim, though nothing major.
