This particular pipe came to us with a batch of new old stock pipes from a store closure a few states over. Based on what I was able to research, the Mina company runs a pipe workshop in China, not unlike HS Studio or GH Zhang, which produces a number of different makes based on the style of pipe. This one, for example, is a particularly stubby take on the traditional billiard, with a distinct thickness that allows it to incorporate a reverse calabash system in its shank. As with similar designs by Tom Eltang, Dirk Heinemann, or Robert Vacher of Laughing Moon, this reverse calabash system effectively creates a wide chamber for smoke to expand and condense within before passing through the mouthpiece, providing a cooler, drier experience.
This pipe is completely unsmoked. Some slight cosmetic wrinkles in the sandblast finish, so I’ve lowered the price a little. They won’t affect how the pipe smokes.
