While most of our mounted meerschaums use sterling silver, such as the Silver, Silver Cap, and Double Silver lines, the MBSD Meerschaum Nickel Mounted features, as the name suggests, nickel fitments, caps, and ferrules. Part of the impetus for this line was to offer premium meerschaum pipes that were a little more affordable than our silver-mounted ones, but the pipes were also inspired by the various accents worn by early briars, where nickel mounts were much more common. Whichever way you look at it, they’re a great way to get your hands on a high-quality meerschaum pipe with a little extra finery, but which is a lot lighter on the wallet.

In the case of this one, for example, the idea was to take something akin to a Danish egg from the briar artisan world, such as those one might see in the work of Former, S. Bang, or the many pipe makers that have emerged in their wake, and give it not only a more “Turkish” feel, but perhaps even a more lavish one. Carved from premium meerschaum and dressed in a lattice of teardrop carvings, it features mounts of nickel at both ends, as well as a reverse calabash system in its shank, which should provide an even cooler, drier smoke than a standard-bore meerschaum pipe.

This pipe comes with a custom-fitted hard case.
