Kaywoodie Pre-1955 Super Grain 37 Smooth Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked
Out of stock
Description
Kaywoodie pipes are as American as apple pie. Starting in 1919 as a pipe brand for KB&B, a pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851, Kaywoodie has since then been a staple of American-made pipes. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
The Super Grain was one of Kaywoodie’s early higher-grade lines, one that, in its infancy, was distinguished by KB&B’s signature cloverleaf inlay on its shank, rather than its stem. Turned from what KB&B claimed to be especially excellent briar, which the company had located in Greece, Super Grains wore very natural, smooth finishes, with the intention of giving center stage to said briar. This one is rendered in the classic shape “37” “Small Billiard” that featured in Kaywoodie’s catalogs for much of the 20th century and, by the looks of it, would be a pre-1955 make, based on the nomenclature and 4-hole Drinkless stinger.
This pipe is completely unsmoked.
