Kaywoodie pipes are, as the saying goes, as American as apple pie. Starting in the early 1900s as a pipe brand for KB&B (which was itself an American pipe shop dating all the way back to 1851), Kaywoodie would quickly become a staple of American pipe culture. In the present, many Kaywoodies are collectors’ items, in addition to being fantastic smokers.
Kaywoodie’s Custom Grain boasted “deep grained briar,” draped in a light, yet rich finish that was “unlike any other Kaywoodie” produced during the make’s American years. This apple rendition showcases a great mix of its titular patterns, from bird’s-eye to straight grain, and shines about as bright as the day it was made.
Which makes sense, as this pipe is completely unsmoked, having been traded in by a collector of Kaywoodie pipes.
