If you’re familiar with Ardor pipes, you will already know Damiano Rovera—if not by name, then at least by style. Ardor itself is an Italian high-grade pipe workshop that has, since its creation, been staffed by various generations of the Rovera family, including Damiano. The name itself is an acronym referring to its father and son founders, Angelo Rovera and Dorelio Rovera (even before Ardor, the Rovera family’s history with pipes extends far and wide in the Italian scene, and Angelo’s own father, Francesco, had previously established the Sociedade Rovera pipe company with his brothers in 1911). Dorelio’s sons, Damiano and Dimitri Rovera, would also ultimately join the Ardor workshop, an event which would take Ardor pipes in new directions that remain a core part of the Ardor aesthetic to this day.

When he was not busy working on Ardor pipes with his father, Damiano Rovera used to make pipes under his own name. These pipes were typically more colorful, and had a greater focus on accents and ornamentation, than the contemporaneous Ardor pipes. This plump Italian apple, for example, features a jade-green Lucite ferrule and mouthpiece, as well as a sterling silver faux-spigot. It’s a very beautiful pipe, and it’s no coincidence that many Ardor contemporary pipes look very similar to it. Damiano’s successes with his own-name pipes led to his design philosophy becoming a core part of the Ardor aesthetic—the “Fantasy” subseries, for example, was his creation. So, if you’ve wondered at all, when looking at this pipe, why it is so much like an Ardor Giove Fantasy, that’s because it is—it just happens that it was the Ardor Giove Fantasy before the Ardor Giove Fantasy.

This pipe is completely unsmoked. It is chambered to allow for the use of 9mm filters if desired. The pipe comes with its original sleeve.
