Cesare (Barontini) Rame Rusticated Canadian Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Barontini is one of the oldest companies in the pipe industry in Italy. Founded in 1890 in Tuscany by Turildo Barontini, the company initially only produced briar, but in 1925, Turildo’s son Bruno shifted the operation to making pipes from this briar. Later, the company was inherited by Cesare Barontini, whose name is most readily associated with Barontini pipe production. Barontini is still operated by Cesare and his wife today. Cesare is a Barontini sub-brand.
The Rame line from Barontini’s Cesare brand looks to have been discontinued long ago, though it is helpfully descriptive name goes some way toward understanding it. Literally the Italian word for “copper,” the Rame was distinguished by a quaint little inlay made from twin bands of copper, sandwiching another band made of what I would assume to be nickel.
The condition is very good. Minor inner rim darkening and slight residual oxidation on the pipe’s vulcanite stem.
