Castello “Castello” 4K Smooth Billiard w/ Briar Accent Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates
Out of stock
Description
Founded in 1947 by Carlo Scotti, Castello quickly became known for producing some of the finest smoking pipes in the world. Over the years, the people involved in making Castello pipes has changed – such as Luigi Radice and Sergio Ascorti, who developed their skills in the Cantu workshop before leaving to start Caminetto, or the handing of the reigns of the company to Francisco ‘Kino’ Coppo after Scotti’s passing – but the superlative quality of Castello pipes has not. It is not without reason that Castello is known as ‘the Italian Dunhill.’
These days, the Castello workshop doesn’t often incorporate accents into their designs, sticking mostly to the reserved charm that their pipes have established over the last seven decades. But there are exceptions, and when this is the case, they’re very tastefully and typically quite subtly applied. This stacked billiard from Castello’s Signature “Castello” line incorporates a ring of briar within its stem, with a matching finish that has the latter’s black Lucite act as a second “collar” of sorts. It’s a nice look, especially with the ivory-hued Castello logo inlaid into the aforementioned briar.
The condition is good. Some darkening and wear to the rim, slight finish discoloration and some small scratches on the bowl section.
